Drawing you to darkness, maybe, but begging for nourishment certainly; where is the rain, the water, and how can I grab as much as I touch? Lovely picture, gives me a sense of how nature hopes for the best and the most effective way of being.

Great lines and repeating pattern - love the freshness of this shot

thanks to you, His Honorable Sockness and seanie and Charlane! the darkness is a refuge to escape the blistering sun, beware of bugs though, between mosquitoes and spiders, it's not for the faint-hearted. rain, water sorely needed around here. nature for all it's hoping is often disappointed. what is it's most effective way of being? to live long enough to reproduce? to be photographed immortal? to aspire to well-visited botanical gardens like Valhalla?

This is one of those photos you keep looking at.......I love the ribcage background too.....and the paleness of the ferns.
