Bactrian Camel

Bactrian Camels store fat in their two humps to help ensure survival when food is scarcse. They are common in captivity throughout Asia and China, however, wild populations have been drastically reduced to just a few hundred. Bactrian Camels can be found in groups of up to 30 individuals led by a single male. Their ability to tolerate extreme temperatures and survive a water loss of up to 40% of their body weight makes them well suited for desert life. Females will produce a single offspring after a 15-month gestation.
