Sable Antelope

One of the largest and most impressive of the African Antelopes, they are distinguished by their rich brown coat and horns. Males are generally larger than the females and darker in color with a thick mane. They live in heards of 5 – 30 females and young led by a dominant male. Females can deliver a single calf after a 9-month gestation period. Hunting and habitat destructration threaten their survival.
