It was unusually hot the past couple of days here in the Bay Area. Temperatures reached 100s inland, 90s where we live. Along with the heat, came an unusual fiery display in the sky.

On our right, a bit obscured with houses and trees is the Oakland Mormon Temple. Thanks to my husband who held me steady as I stood on top of our railing, I was able to get a zoom shot. Soon I hope to come up closer and spend an early evening photographing this beautiful temple.

Canon 30D, 70-200mm.
Handheld. Shot in RAW. No post processing other than crop, resizing and re-saving in JPG.

Wow!!! I too, am from Oakland, very near this Mormon Temple and I have to say that although I have admired it's beauty and also the beauty that IS the Oakland Hills, I have never seen it captured as intensely as this!! Brava Portia.
