A shot from my end of year college project.

We were set a task, to come up with our own assignment, and deliver five photographs from it. I decided that I wanted to shoot five fictional portraits, depicting a Glaswegian couple, and how they interact, behave, and deal with different situations in their relationship. I wanted the images to look like part of a narrative, as if film stills.

Here, the couple are trapped in the car, having had an argument. I was inspired from looking at photographs by Phillip Lorca Di Corcia for the lighting of this shot.

In the story Ten Things I Learned.

i love this set - great idea and superbly executed. mind sharing how you lit these? these ones in the car are amazing - definitely like looking at a film still.

This was lit with natural daylight to the left of me (through some trees, late afternoon, hence the speckled/ warm appearance). I also used my trusty flashgun - a Metz which you can buy very cheaply second hand (cost me £80 on ebay, which is about $128) - and fired it through the car windscreen.
