Where babies come from

A shot from my end of year college project.

We were set a task, to come up with our own assignment, and deliver five photographs from it. I decided that I wanted to shoot five fictional portraits, depicting a Glaswegian couple, and how they interact, behave, and deal with different situations in their relationship. I wanted the images to look like part of a narrative, as if film stills.

Here, the couple deal with the prospect of pregnancy. I wanted to explore the different reactions of both, and how it would impact upon their relationship.

I was inspired by Sean Scheidt for these photos - a lot of my college research ended up with a good few of his photos included!

I loved the way he lights his photos, and how they end up with a slightly dreamlike, muted feel to them. This was something I wanted to create in my photos too.
