This is Petey, a rat terrier we rescued a month ago. He is small, so he enjoys sunning in the window. A puppy mill dumped him near our country street after neglecting him terribly. My wife wrote a detailed account about rescuing Petey that you can read here:

Animal rescue is richly rewarding. Petey went from being a shattered, furless, frightened dog who had never walked or drunk water from a bowl to the happy, funny, smart quintessential puppy he is today.

These dogs are actually called Rat Terriers because they were bred for chasing and killing rodents.

It's just so great to hear stories like this have a happy ending. I will never undertand how people are able to abandon, neglect and torture animals like that. I'm glad for people like you :)
