This pic is a location known as JPG. This is the main gate to what was originally known as The Jefferson Proving Grounds, a mixed blessing and many call it a curse. The 56,000 acres of JPG was owned by the US Dept of Defense. In 1941 the first round of ammunition was fired on this acreage and following that event, JPG employed over 1700 citizens and fired over 175,000 rounds of ammunition monthly.
Under a recent agreement with the US Army and Airforce, 50,000 acres at JPG are being transitioned into Big Oaks Wildlife Refuge http://www.fws.gov/refuges/profiles/index.cfm?id=31531
