Airman Wilson 1968
I was selected Airman of the month and also won Photo of the Month. On a routine assignment at Vandenberg AFB, CA. I made this self portrait...black frames and all. They wanted my picture for an Air Force publication.
I decided to use a prop...the C-12.
The camera was a Graflex C-12 with swings and tilts.
This is so retro I wanted to share; these cameras were workhorses and are rare in today's market.
Since then I have acquired many of what I believe are the best ever made. I have a Leica M3, Rolleiflex 2.8F, Hasselblad 500CM Classic, Yashicas 124 G (two), and a C1-12 Graflex.
I bought it for $50.00 at a government surplus auction along with a Gossen Luna Pro light meter. Here's the kicker.
The meter was one I had signed out and used for a year in Vietnam. I made a mark on the leather case, and a scratch on the plastic was made when I hit it on a wall by accident.
The C-12 and meter are among "things" I keep close.
My wife says I need all of "my stuff" around me where I can see most of it. I say, "So???"
