Goitered Gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa)

Found throughout the arid plains of Central and Southern Asia, the Goitered Gazelles live in small groups of 5 – 6 individuals. During the winter months, larger herds will form for seasonal migration in search of food and water. Goitered Gazelles differ from other Species in that only the male Gazellsa have horns. During the rut, the male’s larynx will bulge outward resembling a Goiter, and they will occasionally emit hoarse bellows. The Gazelles spend the early morning and evening grazing and take shelter during the mid-day heat. Females will give birth to 1 – 2 offspring after a 7-month gestation.
