The Heart of the Village

The medieval market place of Ladenburg, Germany. Story goes that the statue of Mary was found by farmers in the fields that surround the village...she now stands watch over the villagers and our huge fish that live in her fountain.

Fantastic article Laura, I'm glad to see you appreciate your time there. We wish we could get back and you're right because although it took time we have some of our closest friends in the Odenwald.

What I think most impresses me about your photos Laura is the consistent level of quality they have. This seems like a village where many fellow JPG'ers would not mind being stranded for awhile. I think this photo essay deserves my vote and you have it!

Got my vote Laura! I was fortunate enough to have traveled to Germany in the early 80's and am aching to go back. My grandmother was from Heidelberg and I have relatives in Munich. I found Germany to be even more magical than I had anticipated. So glad you did this story...I was wondering if you were traveling Europe or living there. Sooooo jealous!
