I wear a cross, I still don't know what it means
I'm 16, which is said to be the most confusing time in a girl's life. Parents talk my ear off about how it's okay to have questions about sexuality, self-image, and friends. I don't question any of those things.
I am a heterosexual, beautiful but imperfect girl with a best friend I would risk it all for.
The one aspect of my life that no book or parental unit bothered to warn me about was religion. Maybe that's because everyone around me has such potent views on religion that they assume I will agree with them, so they don't anticipate the need for a next move. Well, unlike most all other facets of who I am, what God I am to believe in isn't neatly tucked away in my DNA, heart, or mind. And until I locate the answer, all that I have to hold onto is faith.
Faith that God will find me, Faith that I will find God.

It is so refreshing to hear such honesty. I understand where you are at. It will come in time. I am much older than you, I have children I am raising and I STILL have much to learn! It is a wonderful journey full of ups and downs and endless questions. Don't underestimate yourself. You know much more than you think. :)

That last line you have there "Faith that God will find me, Faith that I will find God" is just so beautiful. Amazing coming from such a young girl. Very honest portrait by the way. It's great.

I feel the same way. I'm a little younger than you but already having really deep, curious thoughts about religion...personally, I think it's less about organized religion than about believing in yourself.

I also went through what you are describing. As you go through life you will find truth that rings clear as a bell all up and down your being. That truth is where God is. That's what I believe. I know God has helped me through cancer. I know God watches over me. I know God led me to the man that I married and that he has been there as we went through thick and thin. I know he loves our love for each other. I know that God led us to our country house after my Mom passed. We weren't even looking. You can't always know God is there with you when you need him, but just believe it. In life you sometimes see Him most clearly when you look backwards and see how things turned out for the better. Much better than you ever would have thought when you are passing through those times that try us. I also believe I am a combinatioin of many truths. Look for truth. In truth you will find beauty and love. God is love.
