Chambered Nautilus cross-section

Though I see the creature that lives in this shell as being 'not-so-attractive', I love the fact that their shell gives us a PERFECT example of the "Golden Ratio." No finer example can be found in Nature.

    The spiral being one of the most common designs found in nature... from the way your hair grows, to galaxies, shells, tornados, your bath drain, over and over the spiral appears. Earliest artwork mankind left behind...spirals. Something utterly intrinsic to existence, and so pleasing to the eye.
