WITNESS
My grand mother (father's side)
Her name is "Fadwa" sacrifice in arabic.
She witnessed the death of two brothers and a sister, a young son, a daughter killed by a car accidant, another son who was killed during the Civil War and a husband.
I have never rembered her but in black.
In the The Power In Names (الطاقة في الاسماء) Faces From Lebanon photo essay.

Wissam: An incredible portrait of a very powerful looking soul - her eyes, the lines of her face - she is magnificent.

I agree with Steven. She truly looks like a woman who has been through a lot of heartache in her life...nice to see her in white.

I agree w/ Jose'; what a woman of strength and the lines of her face do reflect sacrifice; self sacrifice for others; interesting you recall her in black and yet here she is illuminated w/ white

This is a wonderful portrait, the light does illuminate the sad and painful memories written on your grandmother's face. She reminds me of many of my refugee students. Strong, wise and having withstood much. And yet such warm and caring personalities. Just lovely, thank you

ASSAIG DE CÀNTIC EN EL TEMPLE
Oh, que cansat estic de la meva
covarda, vella, tan salvatge terra,
i com m'agradaria d'allunyar-me'n,
nord enllà,
on diuen que la gent és neta
i noble, culta, rica, lliure,
desvetllada i feliç!
desesperat dolor
aquesta meva pobra,
bruta, trista, dissortada pàtria.
