This is the man that raised me whom I proudly call my dad. A 30 year US Navy Chief veteran.

What a very nice portrait of your Dad. He looks like a Chief...yea my Dad was a Chief, as well. They just have a strong yet quiet confident in charge look in their eyes. As I'm sure you know, I sure did, Chiefs are the guys that actually run the Navy...they really do!
