Cherry Creek Drive-Thru
Scenes from old Cherry Creek - my hometown.
One story that my father tells about this location:
The house and car were owned by one Mr. Campbell, and his wife.
One very cold winter morning, Mr. Campbell went out to start his car. (Yes! That very one!)
The car would not start. Thinking that the engine just needed warming, he put a pan of fuel underneath the tranny and lit it up.
Suddenly, there was a great hissing noise.
No. The car did not catch fire -- just the dipstick had shot like a rocket all the way over the roof.
Car and driver were fine.
In the story Ghost Town Girl.

I enjoyed reading your essay and following up with the photos. It's stories like these that I wish kids today were abe to experience and cherish. They really don't know what they are missing. The Good Ol' Days were exactly that.....Good! Thanks for taking me with you on your journey.

I live in the country, too. My friends ask me what I do out there. Don't I get bored? There's always some little (or big) nature drama going on. The skies are never ending. The wildlife, birds, etc. keep me entertained. I stay busy all day, either working in my garden, photographing outdoors, reading, talking to friends on the phone, visiting a neighbor down the road, or working on my photography. Occasionally I do NOTHING! I love your story and photos. WHat a life you have had.
