When I saw the challenge I turned to my mother and asked her "If you could take a photo depicting your faith, what would you take a picture of?"

With little hesitation she replied, "a tree."

Something so grand coming from such a tiny little seed is wondrous.

I am not of any faith; I'm a hoper, not a believer, but I'd have to agree that trees make a strong argument for something.

Just not sure what, yet.

When I think of trees, I think of the bark, the outer shell, the barrier. When she thinks of trees, she thinks of the leaves and branches reaching out in all their glory.

Perhaps this sheds light on our differences of faith.

Patricia, The Irish are so poetic and beautiful. You do not fail to live up to the positive sterotype. What you wrote is lovely, and I could not resist reading it, having seen the title to the photo. The photo, so textural, also stands on its own. A fellow mick, Laura

I love the story but not the picture so much, I think it doesn't reflect the powerful feelings of the text
