Southern Cross Constellation
The sky above Orere Point was clear and star filled without the citied screams of light pollution. It reminded me of a poem I wrote years ago. I took these photos with a hope that they might turn out. To my delight they did.
The Softly Singing Chorus
Oh Glorious village
Nestled in its green
Blanket
Above it’s bubbling brook spa
Slow, wise, settlement
Populated by simpletons, vagrants
And musing beasts
Too knowing to leave
The breast of this homely stop
Hanging in time
Suspended below the softly singing chorus
To which workers bobbing upon it’s waters
(that are the arms of this country kitchen hostess)
Listen. Letting said chorus lead and lullaby them
Through this lapping low night
