Fearless
This great horned owl mama is about to leave her nest with it's capture, a rabbit. She had two babies this year. One is in the nest behind her. The other is waiting in tree tops to eat. Generations of this great horned owl have been returning to this tree in small wooded pathway of Northern Illinois University Campus for years. I waited for mama to enter the nest then ran up as close to nest as I could muster to get this shot. She gave me one of those 'and who do you think you are?' looks before taking off to feed her waiting young.
