Among the MOST BEAUTIFUL photos of a train I've ever seen, a genre hugely popular with photographers. The lighting, the boys wonderment looking out at the scenery rushing past, the intimacy of the carriage, the gorgeous wood, with its patina of age resulting from countless passengers resting against it during their journeys - some exciting, some wearying; VOYAGES! Some returning one to home, loved ones, familiar places almost lost through imagination; others, perhaps, whisking one towards a new beginning, with its attendant hopes, dreams, and wonderment. A perfect venue to capture the endless palette of the human experience, the trip a suspension - between the place left and the destination towards which one hurtles. And here, taken advantage of so perfectly, reverently, by a photographer given over to a compassionate humanism which fully informs his/her perceptions, and way of being, gently, in the world.
