Caged Oak
In the middle of Citrus County Florida, ten miles southwest from Crystal River, is a large swath of forest. It's known as the Citrus Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest. Most people around here call it the "State Forest" and there are many tracts of it in many surrounding counties. It has great animal and plant variety, miles and miles of hiking and horse trails, even dirt roads to drive on. Among the many treasures, that can be discovered are three cave sets, and old rock quarry, two recreational areas built around old mines and one of the highest points in Florida at a whopping 292' above sea level. It varies from low, wet sinkhole areas to higher sandhill community and pine forests. I've always been partial to the Pine forests with carpets of ferns and grasses. Throw in a few scraggly Live Oaks, and the forests take on a magical, otherworldly quality. That's what i'm trying to capture in this shot.
