Verja del Ángel - Havana, Cuba.
This is a Pinhole image taken in Necropolis Cristóbal Colón Cemetary in January 2007. It's a bizarre place. Some of the graves are ridiculously grand. Others are dilapidated and crumbling. The least fortunate corpses are kept in concrete boxes, piled high, row after row in functional prefab structures. Bones jut out here and there. Each boxes' contents are marked on the outside with permanent marker. Name and date, just a scrawl. As a small city within a city, it is like a microcosm of Havana.
The print is a Photo Intaglio Etching. Read about the process and see the rest of the shots in the series - www.cubaobscura.com.
