Head Start
A park guard collects young green sea turtles to be released at Alas Purwo National Park in East Java, Indonesia. The turtles are kept for a couple months after hatching in order to improve their chances for survival in the wild. Along with local colleagues, I helped park authorities improve their methods for this process, called "head starting".
