As Lambs are being born earlier and earlier each year, some lambs are not surviving due to the cold, as hypothermia supresses the lambs suckling instinct, causing the lamb to not feed and therefore starve to death. Lamb mortality due to hypothermia is on the rise and the only way this farmer can protect his lambs is to wrap them up in plastic sliced bread wrappers to protect the lambs from the cold. Young lambs like this one will "wear" the wrapper for upwards of a week.
