chocopie

for all ya'll koreans out there. shame on yourselves if you do not recognize the invention of the century: chocopie and yogurt.

for those of you who have no idea what these saccharine goods are: chocopie is just like moonpie except it's a bit smaller and tastier. the yogurt (pronounced yo-guru-too) is basically less viscous and sweeter form of the yogurt that we consume here in america.

these snacks have been around ever since my mother's and my mother's father's generations. as a child i had tried many creative ways to open the bottle of the yogurt, despite my grandmother's lecture about the germs that reside on the bottle; biting out the bottom, poking a tact through the bottom and show it to everyone that it's an empty bottle with its lid still on, poke a chopstick through the aluminum foil lid, etc. for the chocopie, i would eat all the "shell" first and then eat what's left inside.

the yogurt can be an extremely tasty treat when it is frozen (same with the pie), you just need to use your teeth or a pair of scissors to get rid of the top half of the bottle, and suck on it, as if it were an ice cream.

the bottle, after the content was consumed, can be used as an accessory. you just have to boil the bottle until it shrinks to your preferred size, and simply attach it on zippers or your cellphones or such.

looking at this picture reminds me of my childhood in korea: time in my life that i would never grow out of.
