I lived within a two-block radius of here for 12 years. I took this picture from the roof of the last apartment we lived in, which overlooks the rooftop of the previous apartment we lived in. Everything made sense here. Everything was close at hand. We didn't question our surroundings. Living in downtown Toronto had been a dream ever since my grandfather had driven us down to the summer fair in my childhood. I found the elevated highways and tall buildings intoxicating.
