This photo was taken in an area on east Lake Union in the greater Seattle area, which is currently being highly developed.

Until recently I lived just a few blocks from the edge of Lake Union, and I noticed that much of the wildlife chose to take off when the houses on a couple lots near my place were torn down and the construction crews moved in.

In the far background is the Gasworks, where for the first half of the 20th century, gas was manufactured from coal. The area was later made into a park, but the safety of the park is still disputed because of chemical residues left in the ground by the manufacturing process.

Nice birdie photo! Those hummers are hard to capture.
