Man On Horse
Some of Botero’s pieces bring particular echoes of the Colombian Characters of the artist’s paintings, such as this sturdy self-assured man in a suit and hat on horseback, his legs as large as those of the horse. His representation of a man on a horseback fits into a long line of equestrian statues dating back to the famous Roman equestrian statute of Marcus Aurlius to Donatello’s Gattamelata.
