American Waste Land?
It is difficult to image what this sight might have looked like before man touched it.... Our natural world is lost in the balance between man's need to dominate his environment. This is an industrial location, which is now quickly becoming Condos with a view.... where the vegetation is ripped from its natural environment and replaced with trees and plants in restricted containers or allowable space... natural ground cover exchanged for pavement..... I, personally think the photo represents human impact on our world on many many levels....
I am not saying that I am for or against growth..... just witness to the ever changing world and the driving force behind this growth....

I like the depressed image, but excuse my ignorance, but I'm missing the play on words with Waist as opposed obviously to Waste. Voted+
