Inside most older abandoned places, there are environmental hazards - aside from lead paints and asbestos, (which was used for everything from pipe coatings to ceiling and floor tiles), there are often collections of various toxic solutions such as solvents, oils, and PCB's. I found these stickers all over the smashed electrical equipment of an abandoned power plant.

PCB's are considered to be a carcinogen, and have numerous other negative effects on living organisms, some of which include liver damage, skin disease, memory loss, low birth weight, and poor development of motor skills.

Banned in 1977, PCB's do not break down easily in nature, and are often found in the soil and waterways nearby old factories and industrial sites.
