Trevorton, PA, was once one of many Central Pennsylvania towns where anthracite coal mining was the king of industry. Directly outside of the town, giant mounds of coal dirt piled up over the years, the hastily discarded remains of progress. These mounds grew so large, they became almost as large as the Appalacian Mountains around them. These days, these large mounds (mountains) of coal dirt contain vegetation, trailer parks, lakes, and abandoned industrial infrastructure such as what is pictured here.
