"Ferrybridge 'C' Power Station was the first 2000MW coal-fired power station in Europe and it first supplied energy to the National Grid in 1966. The station itself is comprised of 4 x 500MW units, using 800 tonnes of coal and 218 million litres of water (for cooling) per hour. As well as the four main units, the station has two gas turbines which produce an extra 34MW combined, for use in dead starts. The station has two, 198m high chimneys and eight, 115m high cooling towers, which are the largest of their kind in Europe."

Amazing shot. I've never been very active in the fight against global warming b/c I think I've always been one of those people who thinks "what can I do?" .. Well you can only ignore or choose to disregard the signs for so long. Truth is we've got 7 years to make a difference.

It's funny, yorkshire's coast and moors in the north and east have such a rugged, untouched beauty. Quite the contrast to the industrialized south west.
