Robo-Plant

This is quite possibly the oddest plant/weed I have ever seen. I had my zoom lens on and was messing around with the focal length when suddenly this popped into view.

It reminds me of robo-cop...only with plants...and in the middle of winter...in New York.

Yeah.

Anyone know what kind of plant/weed this is?
