Birds of a Feather
I have seen her many times feeding the seagulls, just before sunset. Normally watching from a distance, sometimes taking photos of the seagulls. This evening I walked closer and we spoke. She's been feeding the birds every day for six years; she knows individuals (and has her "favorites"), and they come back year after year. Then I took a few photos and she didn't seem to mind :)
Seagulls are hardly an endangered species, but they do serve a purpose in the chain of life surrounding the ocean. On these below-freezing days, perhaps this kind woman's actions are helping to sustain a few lives so they can continue that purpose for years to come.
