My grandparents don't like these because they eat their tomato plants, so my grandma has my grandpa kill them. Just so happens that with this one, he didn't do a very efficient job. He smacked it with a shovel, forcing its organs out the back, but not killing it. So the poor caterpillar spent a day with its organs outside of its body. For some reason I, in my eternal morbidity, decided to give it a photo shoot, as a sort of compensation I suppose.
