This male Anna's Hummingbird was guarding his territory -- a vacant lot overgrown with weeds and surrounded by a fence topped with razor wire. The lot was in downtown San Francisco. We push hard against nature in the city, though, and this was the hummingbird's last stand at this location. The vacant lot has since been turned into a parking lot.
