We Share the Air

Since time immemorial humans have turned their eyes skyward in awe of birds in flight.. Unfortunately, when aircraft and birds attempt to use the same airspace at the same time, collisions occur. On 3 April 1912 aviator Calbraith Rogers, the first person to fly across the continental U.S., became the first person to die as a result his aircraft striking a bird. The cost in human lives lost, approximately 200 in the USA since 1960, best illustrates the challenge of responsibly managing wildlife near airports.

Beautiful, beautiful composition. I frequent the park near Washington National, where I photograph airplanes landing and taking off. This is a beautiful photo. What lens did you use?

This photo inspired me for the mere reason I thought of the works of Leonardo d' Vinci and his inspirations from birds leading to doodles and sketches of flying machines. The image is proof of your eye in tune with your image making machine. Of course its a real bird for you knew when to press the shutter button...cause the gull is gliding..no blur! Leonardo would of been proud of your image! Bravo!!!!
