Three Islands in silhouette. Browns Island, Rangitoto and Motutapu.
Rangitoto is our freshest volcano, only 300 years old. Of the many volcanic cones in Auckland's Isthmus this is the only one to have been seen erupting by the human eye. (at least 150 years prior to Western settlement) Maori named it Rangitoto meaning 'Blood Sky'. From the air it's circular.
