Fishing up a Storm

I love Island Bay. It sits at the beginning of the upper Waitemata Harbour and faces the Waitakere Ranges far in the West.
Sometimes in Winter I like to drive up here and sit close to the beach and look at the line of lights in the West. I smoke a quiet cigarette, enjoy the brisk breeze and think of friends and family on the other side of the Ranges and over the Tasman Sea in Australia. Strangely I feel quite close to them here.
