This image is so evocative and completely genuine that I can't help but feel the cold of the tracks and the snow that covers them as it numbs my feet through my shoes and it feels a little like my heart has broken from longing or from too much grief. I can smell the air and feel the cold hurting my face and my hands. I don't live in this place. Where I live, it looks nothing like this. But this photograph pulls me in and makes me feel the surroundings in a completely visceral way. The light leaks and look of the film, disconnect it from most of the pictures I see today and that subtle abstraction unhinges me enough to pull me in and keep me. I hope JPG prints this and shares it with their readers, of which I am one.
