To Benoît: Well, that depends on what you mean of course. I can see that you are refering to the present mr P. and his "escapades". I am not a supporter of him, have never been, but yes the US are a democracy, and more to the point - I think that our flags represent the values that the nation has as a whole. Thus the flag is a symbol of democracy, and this year it will be (in my humble view) a better out-come of the democracy in the US. So this year, the sky is the limit for democracy in the US! :-)

    A better symbol of democracy? there is none. at least not from any other countries when you take their history into account as much as you do with the US.
    I love America. We will withstand our presidents as well as our radical citizens to become better for it.

    well, maybe New Zeeland being the first country giving women the right to vote would argue that there are other countries that also have played a signifigant role developing democracy - but yes the US play a role constantly.
