When nightfall hits the campus of CSU Channel Islands, it's past comes back to life as the Camarillo State Hospital. A hospital out in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by hills and fields. Why put a hospital in the middle of nowhere, you ask? The answer is quite simple. To protect the rest of the city. You see, this hospital was home to thousands of troubled individuals. Kept in heavily insulated rooms with barred windows and only let out for an afternoon stroll in the courtyard. This wasn't your average hospital. This was your horror movie mental hospital. Rumor has it that when the hospital was about to close down in January of 1997, patients were released from their shackles and thrown out of the hospital to find themselves a new home. After years of calling this hospital their home, some actually find their way back.
