The Long Arms

In the first year of growth, the saguaro reaches a staggering height of a 1/4 inch. At 15 years, it may be a foot tall. When it reaches the age of 30, flower and fruit appear. At 50, it will be around 7 feet tall. The beginnings of the first branch come at the age of 75. By 100 years, it grows to 25 feet. The ones in the photo are probably 170 years old, are nearly 50 feet high, and weigh around 8 tons. Saguaros can live to be 200 years but usually no longer than 175. They are rare and they are magnificent.

Beautiful, I love the sharp blue contrast of the sky, it helps define the texture of the Sauaros.
