"...When you want more than you have
you think you need
and when you think more than you want
your thoughts begin to bleed
I think I need to find a bigger place
'cos when you have more than you think
you need more space
society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me
society, crazy and deep
I hope you're not lonely without me..."
("Society" Eddie Vedder )
Cima Larici, on the Asiago plateau, north-east of Italy.
I love this place where lots of prairie dogs resides. They are not so used to people to come near you so I have the possibility to see their real wildlife: when they come out of their lairs with poppies, when snow melts and when they are ready for their Winter's nap!
It takes me about an hour and a half to reach this place and I love it in each season and with every kind of weather...as you can see! It talks to me about beauty and stillness, it is a kind of life's metaphor.
It can be hard, dark, cold, but it will be green and sunny and warm soon!
A wonderful "somewhere" to run away from the mad society once in a while.

if it wouldn't be for that tiny pale blue stripe, one could go mad

Thank you Patrick and Claudia!
You are right Claudia, the weather was such strange that day: almost white or grey everywhere, ground and sky. I was looking forward to get some blue! -

An interesting picture that immediately reminded me of Bob Dylan's below stanza from "Desolation Row".
Now the moon is almost hidden
The stars are beginning to hide
The fortunetelling lady
Has even taken all her things inside
All except for Cain and Abel
And the hunchback of Notre Dame
Everybody is making love
Or else expecting rain
And the Good Samaritan, he's dressing
He's getting ready for the show
He's going to the carnival tonight
On Desolation Row

You write you take about an hour and a bit to reach this place. I almost wish you hadn't, as I was imagining you seeing this strange yet lovely view from your window within a house much like Varykino; the one in Doctor Zhivago.

Running away from society does have it benefits sometimes, I agree. Especially when having been romantically involved with a girl who thinks Mozart is the French word for rubbish, thinks it's a crime against humanity to miss a party and is for these and many other reasons now my ex girlfriend....
Yes, well, a very good photograph actually! It's not often a picture gets to the core of my feelings.... I'll be off for a walk now I think, to escape society a bit as well.
With kind regards from sunny Zurich,

Waiting for something...or thinking in solitude, recollecting emotions in tranquillity... Wordsworth would have loved it! Sure! An open window to a place which help us to relax, to dream, but also to reflect... Away from the crazy too fast society!
Thank you Alice!
Love,
Laura -

Wonderful wide angle view. Is that patch of blue a distant mountain or actually a break in the cloud bank?
-
Alice said (13 May 2008):
Aleksandra, thank you for your words! :o)
Thanks to you peter!
And thank you John! The blue over there was a break in the clouds. -
