Stinging Beauty by Carissa Warfield
While researching manatees in the Belizian shallows, I found myself being swarmed by these elegant yet dangerous creatures from the blue currents. Even with my jellyfish repellent the locals had given me, I was still being stung as I swam through the water. Some were smaller than a quarter, and others, the size of frisbies, all with an erie translucence. Once I finally got out of the water, I raced to find my camera from out of a ziploc bag, and took this shot. One day out of my everyday.
