Decades ago I sat on a beach in Trinidad looking out toward Venezuela, and listening to the palm trees rustle. We had no hammock, just a perch on the sand, maybe on a rock, with one eye out for feral dogs. It was beautiful. How it must have changed since the early 1960s.
