This is a close-up shot of a chunk of bronze stock I found in the yard. Apparently it was used as a base for drilling and stamping other metals. My first thought of the image was of some ancient solar map. The peculiar thing is the circles, nicks and letters are actually punched, drilled and scratched into the bronze, yet it appears that they are raised. The diagonal lines are marks left from a band saw. This image has been cropped and resized but not manipulated otherwise
