Sandy Hook Lighthouse
Lighthouse photos are very popular in my area, and this one has been photographed a million times. Most of those shots are all very cliched, very similar, and almost anyone standing in the same place could have taken the same pictures. Rather than doing a "me-too", I wanted to put my own spin on this subject and create something new and unique. The ominous clouds and the contrasty black & white convey much darker emotions than the standard "blue sky" shots.

I totally agree with the idea that the black and white certainly does give a much better contrast between the lighthouse and the clouds. It gives it a lot of depth. Nicely done!

True - I like the "thirds" aspect of the contrast - branches, lighthouse, clouds/sky. Well concieved and composed image.
