Forlorn Texas Longhorn Motel
This forlorn Longhorn Motel was astraddle the TX/N Mx. line in Glenrio, Tx.It was First Inn,Last Inn,ghost town of Glenrio. Once a monument town with the bust of Route 66. With the location of Glenrio it became the subject of a long battle between both states for tax rights. There were no "bars" on the Texas side because Deaf Smith Co. was dry and no service stations on N Mx. side because of the state's higher gasoline tax. John Steinback's "The Grapes of Wrath" was filmed in Glenrio for three weeks.
In the "The Mother Road" Route 66 photo essay.
