Lower Ninth Ward, New Orleans, LA. December 10, 2007.

We came down to help rebuild, and the people have similar concerns...that after media and some "emergency" respond left, they are left with, still, a mess. This photo was taken two years after "the flood". Lower Ninth Ward, of course, has been getting some attention, esp with makeitrightnola.org. The project will bring 150 greenhouses (energy efficient, sustainable, self-sustaining houses), with participations from 9 local community organizations, 13 architecture firms, and $100,000 gap financing (which is about 2 1/5 size of "regular" government funding for affordable housing).
